Brief Biography



Born Dec 4 1952 in Moscow Region, USSR. Graduated the1st Moscow Medical Academy (Master of Medicine, 1975) and the Institute for General and Educational Psychology, Russian Academy of Educational Sciences (PhD in Psychology, 1983). Title of Thesis: Effects of hereditary and environmental factors on individual differences in human orienting response.

After research work at the Russian Academy of Educational Sciences (1980-1985) and the Institute of Psychology, USSR Academy of Sciences (1986-1991) moved to Germany in 1992. Humboldt Research Fellow at the University of Ulm (1992-1993), research associate at the Medical University of Lübeck (1994), and research assistant (assistant professor since 1997) at the University of Tübingen. Habilitation (post-doctoral thesis) in Medical Psychology in 2001 under the title The relationship between event-related brain potentials and cognitive processes: A critical reevaluation.

Electrocortical processes and behavior;

Cognitive psychology and psychophysiology;

Psychophysiology of perception and action; sensorimotor coordinations;

Self-regulation of the brain;

Learning processes in the development and treatment of neurological diseases; applied psychophysiology;

Neurophysiological foundations of consciousness; altered states of consciousness (particularly the state of minimal consciousness).
